How to Volunteer at MLL

UpdatedSaturday February 13, 2021 byMLL.

Thank you for your interest in being a volunteer with Melrose Little League!

As required by Little League, Inc. and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Melrose Little League (“MLL”) does CORI and JDP background checks on all volunteers, including board members, managers, coaches, umpires, administrative volunteers, and anyone who even helps out in an informal manner. Therefore, if you even think you might be interested in volunteering in any capacity, please take a few minutes to complete the background check process detailed below.

Melrose Little League runs two background checks. See instructions below for both:

  1. Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI)
  • Download the acknowledgement form:
  • Fill out the form: Enter "Melrose Little League" as the “organization” on page 1 and complete the personal information on page 2. Sign and date the bottom of page 1.
  • Return the form along with a legible copy of a valid photo ID to the Safety Director:
  • Via email:
  • Via mail or personal delivery:         Patrick Keefe

80 Lynde Street

Melrose, MA 02176

  1. JDP
  • This is very simple and is fully completed online
  • Click the link and follow the instructions:
  • At the end, it will ask if you want to download your application. When you see that, you're done. The download is only if you want a copy of the information and disclosures that you have filled out online.

If you have any questions, concerns or difficulties with the process, email the MLL Safety Director. Your personal information is held in strict confidence and any negative background check findings will be discussed privately between you and the MLL Safety Director before any determination is made by MLL on suitability as a volunteer.

Thank you for volunteering your time and sharing your talents with Melrose Little League!
