Team effort comes up short

Angels bats stifled by A’s D!

UpdatedFriday May 25, 2018 byMatt Repici.

The Angels let one slip away to the A’s.

Shutout and hitless through 3 strong innings from Liam O’Brien, the A’s defense proved the difference maker in this contest.

A couple key hits late in the game combined with many walks the A’s pushed 3 runs across home plate to solidify the victory.

ALL the Angels sat at least 1 inning staying true to the kids and giving ALL players a chance to make plays and build confidence.

Record means nothing to the Angels at this juncture as long as ALL the kids have equal playing time.

Angels pitch counts:

Liam O’Brien...80

Marcus Ruelle...34

Richie Harrington...14

A's come back to defeat Angels

Angels no-hit A's for 3, A's come back with 3 in 4th and 5th

UpdatedWednesday May 23, 2018 byWilliam Thompson.

The Angels continued their starting pitching domination vs. the A's. Through the first 3 innings, A's batters struck out 9 times and amassed a number of walks but zero hits and runs.

After a few productive at-bats, William Beach got the hit parade going with a solid single that drove in two runs. The A's continued scoring 4 more over the next 2 innings through bases on balls, some smart base running, and a few hard hit putouts.

Nate Geer pitched 4 strong innings of 2-run ball, and Wes Cunningham finished up, also allowing 2-runs over the final 2 innings. Aisling Donegan (catcher) and William Beach (3rd base) combined to throw out a steal attempt at third - thwarting the Angels initial strategy of "run, run, run".

Brendan Sestito (2nd base) made a number of great defensive plays, while Wes Cunningham (1st base) and Dylan Bates (left field) both made some great plays of their own.

With the victory, the A's head into Memorial Day Weekend at 4-3 and have gone 4-1 in their past 5 games.
