Using your team page

Your team page will be where you can communicate with your team, set practices, save files and more.

Remember, you must be logged in to the MelroseLitteLeague.org website before you can access your page.

Managers and coaches can access their Team Pages in two ways:

1) Clicking on TEAM CENTRAL > TEAM DIRECTORY > TEAM NAME > TEAM HOME

or

2) Clicking MY ACCOUNT > VOLUNTEER > VISIT TEAM PAGE

You can also access your page and communicate with your team via the Game Changer Mobile app, which you can download here.

For a full list of functionality available on the team page, please see this article.

Game Changer App

All Managers have access to the Game Changer app.

IMPORTING YOUR TEAM
Before importing your team, you must download the GameChanger app from the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Additionally, the following requirements must be true:

- You are using the same email address for GameChanger that you use for Sports Connect
- Your team's roster is "posted" to the Sports Connect website.
- You are an allocated volunteer for your team on the Sports Connect site.

How to import your Sports Connect Team
1. Sign into GameChanger with the same email address you use with Sports Connect

2. Tap Create Team or the "+" sign to create a new team

3. Choose the option to Import SportsConnect

4. If you haven't already confirmed your email address, click Open Email App which will direct you to your email. Select Confirm Email Address, and you'll be redirected back to the GameChanger app.

5. Select the team(s) to import. Make sure the team(s) you want to import have a check next to them, and then tap import in the upper corner of the screen. You will see the status of teams importing at the bottom of the screen.

This feature will import player/schedule information into the mobile app.

Schedule and Roster updates made after the team import will automatically sync within the mobile app.

Note: You can only import your team from Sports Connect to GameChanger one time.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE MAKE ALL SCHEDULING CHANGES THROUGH THE WEBSITE AND NOT THE APP. Any updates made to your schedule or roster through the site will automatically update to the GameChanger  app. However, events that are listed as "Rescheduled" or "Postponed" on Sports Connect will not appear in GameChanger.

Booking Practices

To book a practice for your team, first check the online calendar to see what fields are available for your preferred dates. Regular practice slots are determined prior to the start of the season. We ask that each coach add their allotted practice slot on the the league website. Additional practice times or rescheduled practices are made available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Also, please keep in mind that practices can only be requested one week in advance to ensure that everyone gets a fair chance to manage their practice schedules. It is very important to adhere to the practice time slots that are made available. Spring practice time slots are 90 minutes each and are listed below:

9:00 - 10:30 AM
10:30 - 12:00 AM
12:00 - 1:30 PM
1:30 - 3:00 PM
3:00 - 4:30 PM
4:30 - 6:00 PM
6:00 -7:30 PM

Summer/Fall Practice slots can vary as needed based on the coach and team availability.

How to add a team practice:

1. Navigate to your team page and click Calendar

2. Once there, click Create Event.

3. Click on Practice and then Continue. (Please note: Selecting 'Other' will not show up as a scheduling conflict. If things do get double booked because of this, the person who selects 'Practice' will have first right on the field in conflict).

4. You will be able to choose the Location of the practice as well as the Date and Time.

***If you do not see this option, it has not been enabled for your program. You will need to contact an administrator with the site in order to enable this.

*** Please note, team personnel are unable to edit events for any schedules that are generated by your site administrator (i.e. Games, Picture Day, etc.)

Game Reporting

Reporting Scores
The home team manager is responsible to update the game's final score.

To input your team's score:

1. Navigate to your team page and click the Calendar tab.

2. On the calendar page, click on Results.

3. Enter the run totals and click Enter.

Reporting Pitch Counts
After each game, both managers are responsible for each of their team's pitch counts.

Both teams should exchange their pitchers full names and accurate game pitch counts. The home team is responsible for collecting and submitting the score of the game along with both team's pitch counts.

This information should be added to the site (see above). You can also send to [email protected] and copy the other team's manager if the site is unavailable.

The information to send includes: game date, score, Team A pitchers, Team B pitchers.

Example:

April 23
Team A (12) Team B (8)

Team A pitchers:
Mike Smith (50)
Tim Jones (20)

Team B pitchers:
Colin Lacey (75)
Jim Clancy (50)

Game Write-ups
As a way to celebrate our players, MLL coaches are asked to write a game summary for local newspapers. This is a fun opportunity for kids to see their name in print. The winning team is responsible for drafting and submitting the article. We ask that they include EVERY PLAYER in the write-up and can highlight not just game play, but intangibles such as effort and determination. Please submit articles to Erin Drogan at: [email protected]

Rescheduling Games

Sometimes there are situations that require games to be cancelled, The City Of Melrose can close fields due to weather or field conditions. The City will try to make the decision to close the fields by 2 PM based on the weather. If the city closes the fields, the MLL President will make sure the umpires are notified.

If the city does not close the field but the field is deemed not safe to play by the coaches, then it is the coaches responsibility to call off the game.

The umpires are paid if they show up, so when games are canceled we need to notify the umpire before they arrive. If you call the game due to field conditions, it is your responsibility to notify the umpire.

Remember you need to notify the your team when the game is cancelled.

Rescheduling games

The home team manager should contact the opposing coach and work together to find a time, date and field that works for both teams. Managers will not be able to add games, so please email Jay Recinito and Dan Cordella with make up details to add to the schedule.

Player Safety

Player and volunteer safety is our priority. All volunteers must complete background checks. If you have not finished your background check for the upcoming season, please visit our Volunteering Page to get started
